If your contract is professional or higher, it is possible to track user data with Google Analytics.
Our FINDOLOGIC search can be tracked with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager. To implement this there are a couple of steps which need to be done.

Tracking Integration

Google Analytics

To implement Google Analytics tracking, please follow the instructions given from Google. https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1008080?hl=en&ref_topic=1008079

  • After you have followed these steps, navigate to the column VIEW and click on View Settings.

  • Switch the site search tracking to ON and add the name of the search field from your shop into query parameter.

  • You can identify the name of the search field with the inspect function of the browser. The value of name is the value you need to use as query parameter. In the example below, the correct query parameter is searchparam.

  • Verify the settings with the Done button on the bottom of the page.
  • Now navigate to the E-commerce Settings menu in the View column and set Enable E-commerce to ON

After these steps, Google Analytics should be set up properly for tracking of the FINDOLOGIC search.

Add Read & Analyze permission

Adding the Read & Analyze permission to the tracking2@findologic.com account is crucial for our account managers to be able to analyze and improve the quality of the search queries.

  • First choose your Google Analytics account. Select the User Management of your shop in the Property column.

  • In the User Management menu add tracking2@findologic.com, choose Read & Analyze and mark the checkbox to inform the user via E-Mail.

You do not need to add this permission but without the permission we can not support the connection to Google Analytics.

Add Google Analytics to the FINDOLOGIC customer account

To link the FINDOLOGIC customer account with Google Anayltics, first open the FINDOLOGIC customer account. Change to the E-Commerce menu in the Reports tab.

  • Click on the Access Google Analytics button and accept the request from FINDOLOGIC-Tracking.

  • In the final step, you need to choose the Google Analytics View you want to link to the FINDOLOGIC Customer Account.

Google Tag Manager combined with Google Analytics

To use the Google Tag Manager, you need to have Google Analytics already set up properly.

  • To set up Google Tag Manager, open the Variables window, click on NEW and choose Data Layer Variable. The title can be freely chosen. We recommend something like FINDOLOGIC search request. This does not apply to the Data Layer Variable name. This needs to be exactly findologicSearchRequest and the Data Layer Version needs to be Version 2.
The Data Layer Name has to be exactly findologicSearchRequest

  • Now open the Triggers window, click on NEW and choose the trigger type custom event. Here, it is important again, that the event name is exactly findologicSearch. The name of the trigger can be chosen freely again. We recommend something like FINDOLOGIC search trigger.
The Event Name has to be exactly findologicSearch

  • After the trigger is created, open the Tags window, click on NEW and choose Universal Analytics as Tag Configuration. Insert your Tracking ID from Google Analytics, and choose Page View as Track Type. Then open more Settings, Fields to Set and enter page as Field Name. Choose the Variable created earlier1) as value.

  • Now set the trigger, which you created earlier2) as Firing Trigger.

  • Finaly it should look like this:

  • Hit the button Save in the upper right corner in order to save the configuration.
  • After the configuration is completed, you need to hit the PUBLISH button, which is also in the upper right corner.
